Facebook Live Beat Meetings

In an effort to offer our community an opportunity to meet in a relaxed, informal environment with their beat officer, we invite our community members to join us for our FIRST ever online Facebook Live Beat Meetings! What better way to interact than from the comfort of your home!

The goal of the beat meetings is to address any concerns that those in a specific beat may have, answer any police related questions, and help educate the public about general safety and Crime Prevention. For two weeks prior to the events, we invite residents to send questions to us: nrhpdsocial@nrhtx.com, please remember to include your target beat with your question!

We heard your feedback about the inability to find your beat, so our GIS Map personnel did an outstanding job creating a larger than life “book” for you to locate which beat you reside in. Please feel free to send us an email if you’re still unsure: nrhpdsocial@nrhtx.com.

Beat Management Program

Did you know the City of North Richland Hills is divided in to eight districts, also known as “beats?” Do you know what beat you live in?

For the purposes of response to calls for service, the City of North Richland Hills is divided in to eight separate geographical areas, known as districts or beats. In the Beat Management Program, patrol officers get to select (based on seniority), their own beat and work in it every day. By utilizing this program, our officers can better serve the community and form a partnership with our citizens. By managing their beats on a daily basis, officers can get to know the people that reside and work in their assigned areas, and truly understand any associated problems within their individual beat. We encourage officers to interact with staff and students in schools, attend homeowners and neighborhood watch meetings and truly “get to know” their piece of the community.

Hey! Where’s my Package?

How can you help prevent those front porch thefts? Here are a few tips to keep your valuables safe this holiday season.

Leave delivery instructions. Did you know you can request the delivery driver to leave the package in a specific place? Under the mat. Behind a planter. Inside the gate. Some place out of sight. Often a thief is an opportunist, looking for those “easy grabs.” Don’t give them that opportunity.
Use signature confirmation. Reserve this for those expensive packages. With signature confirmation, if no one is home to sign for the package, it’s left at the local post office for pickup.
Deliver to your workplace. Unless your workplace forbids it – check first! Most delivery services will deliver to business addresses during normal business hours, allowing you to receive your packages during the day.
Use an Amazon Locker. There are approximately ten Amazon Locker locations near the 76180 zip code – all with 24 hour operating times. They will keep your packages in the lockers for up to three days.
Deliver the package to neighbor or friend. Can’t be home to accept a delivery? Redirect the package to a neighbor or friend who lives close by. Make sure it’s a trusted neighbor or friend who you can count on to take care of your package.
Use a delivery tracking app. UPS offers an app MY Choice and FedEx offers Delivery Manager to help you to monitor your package delivery and receive text alerts of its progress. You can also set the delivery time or redirect the package through these app services.
Pick up your package at the post office. Instead of having your package delivered to your address try using the USPS Package Intercept. Some of the other delivery services will also hold a package for you free of charge. Check with each vendor for their specifics.
Use security cameras. Keeping a camera pointed at your front porch helps deter criminal activity. Not only do the cameras provide peace of mind against criminal activity, but it can help you monitor potential package mishandling if you discover damaged goods.

Most of the time thieves are opportunists, looking for the easiest get away. Don’t give them the easy out. Help us, help you.

Neighborhood Eyes

Working together for a safer community.

Have you heard about our program, Neighborhood Eyes? The idea behind the program is to enhance crime prevention efforts and work together with the community to solve crime. Many homeowners and business owners currently operate security video systems throughout the City of NRH. With Neighborhood Eyes, if crime occurs nearby, the camera database will alert us to valuable video footage that can help detectives during an investigation. This database omits the need for officers to go door to door attempting to obtain camera location and footage, allowing for a faster investigation. Often, by obtaining the footage and sharing the suspect via online means, we can obtain a positive ID on the suspect.
